Journaling in the Time of Revolution: A Workshop with Laurie T. SeamansPeriods of revolution and upheaval around the world spark feelings of outrage, despair, suspicion, or even victorious elation for some. Communication can be intimately personal, guarded, or even treasonous. The threat of discovery is real for many and ways of disguising what is on paper are essential. With a little ingenuity you can pass secret messages or mask your true thoughts from outsiders. Think of how individuals wrote diary entries during the Revolutionary War or other conflicts everywhere over the centuries. How might we safely reflect on the current global crisis and ensuing chaos to ensure future generations know what really happened?
Join us as we explore a creative outlet for what you are seeing or feeling about the changing world around you. Spend a couple of hours with presenter and CCHS volunteer Laurie T. Seamans creating a new way to express yourself, letting the weight of the world fall away, and rising above the revolution.
All supplies will be provided. If you have something personal you want to include, please feel free to bring it with you.
Pre registration is required and space is limited. Please call 607-756-6071 or email [email protected] to save your seat.
This workshop will take place at our Grace Street facility (9 Grace Street, Cortland).
