One of the most compelling voices in contemporary Brazilian music, Jota.pê brings his emotionally rich sound to Toronto. Following the explosive release of his acclaimed second album Se Meu Peito Fosse o Mundo (Som Livre, 2024), Jota.pê continues to captivate audiences with music that blends tradition and modernity.
Drawing from influences ranging from Jorge Ben Jor and Caetano Veloso to the manguebeat movement of Chico Science, Jota.pê’s work moves effortlessly between the poetic and the popular. In 2025, Jota.pê expands his musical journey with Dominguinho, a special project created alongside João Gomes and Mestrinho that pays tribute to Dominguinhos, one of the greatest masters of Brazilian music. Through intimate arrangements and fresh interpretations, the project celebrates Dominguinhos’ enduring legacy while bridging generations of Brazilian song.
Known for his powerful voice and intimate songwriting, he has toured extensively across Brazil and Europe and earned widespread recognition as one of the standout voices of his generation. This is his first appearance in Toronto.
