Joslyn Hampton is a soulful vocalist whose dynamic range and stage presence were honed through years of backup work and theatrical performances. Teaming with her stepfather, guitarist and songwriter Marty Charters—who has shared stages with legends like Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, and Van Morrison—Joslyn crafted a compelling repertoire and assembled her band, The Sweet Compression. Featuring Carter Scofield on guitar, Tyler Papierniak on bass, Rashawn Fleming on drums, Jacob O’Donnell on saxophone, and keyboard, the group delivers a vibrant blend of funk and soul. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2019, was followed by their sophomore release Bona Fide, showcasing their tight grooves and infectious hooks.
