Josh Kemp’s Blue Note Quartet feat. Nick Tomalin!
Josh and the quartet present a programme of Hard Bop with dedication to the legends of jazz from the 1950s and 60s. Expect hard-swinging jazz, with a healthy dose of the blues mixed in. Bringing together influences from Hank Mobley, Sonny Rollins, Wynton Kelly, and Bud Powell, in carefully crafted solos referencing the history of jazz music. From up tempo fireworks to tender ballads, the programme will feature arrangements of classics and lesser-known works from a golden era of jazz. A deep musical connection between these master jazzmen allows for a deep exploration of this music in the intimate setting of an acoustic quartet!
