Award-winning saxophonist and composer Josephine Davies brings her dynamic ensemble Satori to RWCMD to celebrate the launch of ‘Weatherwards’, their fourth album on Whirlwind Recordings. The music is inspired by Josephine’s Nordic roots in the Shetland Islands and beautifully weaves together the band’s contemporary jazz background with a hauntingly evocative folk influence. In addition to Satori’s tours around the UK and Europe, Josephine also runs her own jazz orchestra, The Ensō Ensemble, which will soon release their debut album ‘The Celtic Wheel of the Year Suite’ on Ubuntu Records. She is also a member of the Harper Trio, with recent performances at Patras Jazz Festival and the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall, and Espial, a free jazz group with a fully improvised album out last year on Discus Records.

Mae’r sacsoffonydd a chyfansoddwr arobryn Josephine Davies yn dod â’i ensemble grymus Satori i CBCDC er mwyn dathlu lansio eu pedwerydd albwm ar Whirlwind Recordings, ‘Weatherwards’. Mae’r gerddoriaeth wedi ei hysbrydoli gan wreiddiau Nordig Josephine ar Ynysoedd Shetland ac yn plethu’n hyfryd gefndir jazz cyfoes y band gyda dylanwad gwerin atgofus.
Yn ogystal â theithiau Satori o gwmpas y DU ac Ewrop, mae Josephine hefyd yn arwain cerddorfa jazz ei hun, The Ensō Ensemble, a fydd yn rhyddhau ei halbwm gyntaf ‘The Celtic Wheel of the Year Suite’ ar Ubuntu Records yn fuan. Mae hi hefyd yn aelod o’r Harper Trio, gyda pherfformiadau diweddar yng Ngŵyl Jazz Patras, ac Ystafell Elgar yn y Royal Albert Hall, ac Espial, grŵp jazz rhydd a ryddhaodd albwm byrfyfyr y llynedd ar Discus Records.
