The Department of Translation, Terminology and Interpreting Studies is inviting the public to this year's Joseph Eynaud Memorial Lecture. The title for the Memorial Lecture is '(Inter-) Epistemic Translation: Bridging the Gap between Paradigms of Knowledge'.
The main speaker, Associate Professor in Translation Studies, Karen Bennett of Nova University, Lisbon, is a member and convenor of the research project EPISTRAN - Epistemologies and Ecologies of Knowledge Translation, of which Prof. Clare Vassallo is the University of Malta member and representative.
There will also be a book presentation by Head of Department, Dr Claudine Borg for the publication titled Rakkonti mill-Bogħod. Stejjer Qosra mill-Użbekistan, edited by Prof. Sergio Portelli and Dr Claudine Borg herself. The book was published by Kite Group with the support of the National Book Fund 2024.
Main Speaker Bio:
Karen Bennett is Associate Professor with Agregação (Habilitation) in Translation at Nova University of Lisbon and Coordinator of the Translationality strand at the research unit CETAPS (Centre for English, Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies). She is general editor of the journal Translation Matters and member of the editorial board of the Brill series Approaches to Translation Studies. Her research interests include history and theory of translation; intersemiotic translation and multimodality; and ways of construing and translating knowledge.
