The celebration kicks off at 11 a.m. with a St. Paddy’s Parade down Main Street, featuring colorful floats, marching bands, and plenty of green. New for 2026, the festival will feature a six-horse team of the iconic Clydesdale draft horses pulling a wagon in the parade, bringing an unforgettable new highlight to this beloved event.🐎
Visitors can enjoy a meet-and-greet with Highland cows and live owls from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Representatives from Rocky Creek Highlands and Happy Hens & Highlands Farm will share information about the Highland breed and offer visitors the opportunity to brush, pet, and take photos with the cows. The Owl Ridge Raptor Center will also be on site, providing an opportunity to see various owls up close and learn about the organization’s efforts to rescue and rehabilitate these birds.🦉
The Appalachian Highlands Celts will host Highland Games in Jimmy Neil Smith Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering visitors a chance to see expert demonstrations and even try traditional highland events like the stone throw, sheaf toss, and archery. Kilts are encouraged.
Everblade Academy will offer a weapons demonstration, a gladiatorial combat show, a shillelagh lecture, and gladiator history lesson in Storytelling Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Live Irish music kicks off Shamrockin’ on the Plaza with Sigean at 4 p.m. in front of the International Storytelling Center. This seven-piece band delivers a high-energy mix of traditional dance tunes and stirring ballads, creating an authentic Irish experience. Performances include appearances at the Knoxville Irish Festival, Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion Festival, and Big Stone Celtic Festival.
Take part in the Brew Fun Run beginning at the Courthouse on Main Street, continuing to Depot Street Brewing for a complimentary small pour of beer or root beer, and looping back to the Storytelling Center for live Irish music. Walking, jogging, and running are all welcome. No entry fee is required.
Throughout the day, enjoy bangers and mash from Main Street Café, along with a variety of food trucks. During Shamrockin’ on the Plaza, beginning at 3 p.m., visit the beer garden featuring Depot Street Brewing. 🍺
This festival is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to wear kilts, anything Celtic-related, or anything green to embrace the St. Paddy’s spirit. 💚
