Jonathon “Boogie” Long’s journey into music began early in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Raised in a Southern Baptist community, he picked up the guitar at six, inspired by gospel songs heard in church. By ten, he was performing at local venues like Swamp Mama’s, sharing stages with legends such as Kenny Neal and Rudy Richard. At fourteen, with his parents’ support, he left school to tour with Henry Turner Jr., gaining invaluable experience on the road. In 2011, Long’s prowess was recognized nationally when he won Guitar Center’s “King of the Blues” competition, distinguishing him as America’s top unsigned blues guitarist. This accolade propelled his career, leading to performances alongside icons like B.B. King, ZZ Top, and Robert Cray. His discography includes notable albums such as “Trying to Get There” (2016), the self-titled “Jonathon Long” (2018), and “Parables of a Southern Man” (2021), the latter two produced by Samantha Fish and both achieving top ten positions on the Billboard Blues Albums Chart. New Release: Courage in the Chaos Now, with his most deeply personal and musically adventurous album to date, Jonathon Boogie Long returns with "Courage in the Chaos"—a bold, emotionally charged collection of songs set for release in 2025 on Myrical Records. The album explores themes of resilience, loss, redemption, and hope, capturing the turbulent soul of modern life while anchored in the traditions of Southern blues and roots rock.
