The River District Association (RDA) is pleased to announce the return of Spook the Blocks, a downtown Rockford Halloween trick-or-treat tradition since 2015, happening Saturday, October 25, from 12 – 4 p.m. in the downtown River District.
This FREE, family-friendly event invites kids and their families to dress up in their favorite costumes and enjoy an afternoon of trick-or-treating. Participating businesses will display an orange pumpkin at their storefront, indicating where trick-or-treaters can stop for candy and other treats.
In addition to trick-or-treating, many River District businesses will offer exclusive one-day-only specials, festive treats, and interactive activities for families to enjoy, like pumpkin painting, coloring activities, visits with mascots, glitter tattoos, selfies at our mobile booth, and more. Visitors are encouraged to explore local shops, support local restaurants and cafes, and enjoy all that the River District has to offer.
“This is our tenth time hosting Spook the Blocks in downtown Rockford, and we continue to find new ways to get creative with it each year. We love to see families come out and celebrate spooky season with us and enjoy this fun way to support local businesses in our community,” said Andrea Cook, River District communications and events coordinator. “This is a wonderful way to connect with people in our community and create lasting memories together.”
Safety Reminder: Parents and guardians are asked always to accompany children, stay on sidewalks, and use designated crosswalks.
