Johnston Home & Surrounding Area: The area around the Johnston Farmhouse, including the Springhouse, Cider house, & Barn, will be open for you to roam as you wish. There will be various activities & demos going on for you to see & possibly participate in.
The Johnston Home will be open for you to tour on your own, with QR codes in the different rooms that will link you to a virtual tour- you can either scan the codes and/or talk to the volunteer(s) that will also be in the home. The Johnston Home itself is NOT stroller friendly.
There is also a prehistoric Adena Mound, located behind the Barn. To get there, go to the LEFT of the pasture area, and walk between the pasture fence (DO NOT TOUCH-ELECTRIC & BARBED WIRE) and the tree line.
American Indian & Canal Museum: The museum will be open for you to self-tour. There will also be a short scavenger hunt available- ask the person at the information desk for copies.
The ONLY restrooms (except a porta-potty in the historic area) are also located in the museum lobby, on either side of the front doors.
There are picnic tables outside the museum and near the main parking lot, if you bring snacks or lunch.
Canal Boat Rides: The dock is located to the north & behind the museum.
*IF it is storming (lightning/thunder/high winds/deluge/flooding/snowing so hard the mules can’t see…) the canal boat will NOT run.
