Jamey Hampton (Brothers Jam) and Justin John (Garcia Birthday Band) will join forces for an evening of duo acoustic guitar exploration at The Artichoke in Portland, Oregon on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Justin and Jamey have each held the post of lead guitar player and vocalist in their respective bands for over two decades. They have performed together numerous times, at special events, club dates and celebrations. Like brothers from different mothers, they approach music making with a shared sense of adventurous play and unbridled joy.
Justin began playing piano and singing at the age of three, guitar at age eleven, and drums at age thirteen. He has become a strong presence in the lively Portland music community, playing lead guitar in "Garcia Birthday Band (GBB)", one of the region's most celebrated Grateful Dead tributes.
Jamey has ridden the wave of music throughout his life. He has released two CDs of original music, Throw Caution (2000) and Chasing Daylight (2003). He co-founded The Brothers Jam in the 70's, and has played hundreds of shows throughout the Northwest with the collective. Known for his exuberant performances, crafty soloing and dramatic delivery, Hampton is at home on the stage.
