Joel Gragg & The Filaments at Turntable in Indianapolis on Thursday, December 11, 2025!When Joel Gragg started The Filaments with Jamie Perryman and Bruce Williams for a rock show in early 2022, no one anticipated the chemistry that meeting would reveal. They recognized that a special sound was happening.
“It felt like we had played together before,” says Gragg. “Like we could finish each other’s musical thought.”
The power trio built a small grassroots following in Central Illinois, opening for acts like Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band, among others.
In 2024, Gragg moved to Indianapolis, and after working on a full-length album with the original members, he reformed the band with seasoned Indy musicians Greg Ziesemer (Bass), Kurt Kruger (Drums), Greg Brown (Sax), and Bob Fields (B3 Organ) — bringing a fully realized sound that was always there in the recordings. Now, they are looking to put their stamp on the Indy music scene and the broader Midwest.
