Joe Bonner Legacy Jam Session at brother jeff's Cultural Center – Five Points Jazz Roots
Step into the heart of Denver’s jazz legacy at the Joe Bonner Legacy Jam Session on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm at brother jeff’s Cultural Center. As part of Five Points Jazz Roots – A Black History Month Celebration, this free, public event, sponsored by the Five Points Business Improvement District, brings together a host of local jazz musicians to honor the spirit and influence of the legendary pianist Joe Bonner.
Five Points Jazz Roots also features live jazz performances in venues along Welton Street on both Saturdays in February, celebrating the neighborhood’s deep musical heritage.

About Joe Bonner
A true master of the piano, Joe Bonner (1948–2016) was an internationally acclaimed jazz pianist known for his powerful, expressive playing and deep connection to the music’s roots. Born in North Carolina, Bonner made Denver his home, becoming a cornerstone of the city’s jazz scene.
He played with legends such as Pharoah Sanders, Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw, and Billy Harper, blending modal jazz, post-bop, and spiritual influences into a sound that was uniquely his own. A mentor to many and a passionate performer, Bonner’s legacy continues to inspire generations of musicians in Five Points and beyond.
