Join us for an engaging evening listening to the works of Bach, Chopin, and Schubert in a lecture - recital style presentation performed by renowned concert pianist Jocelyn Lai!
Jocelyn is an accomplished concert pianist who has performed at festivals and academies across Canada, the United States, and Spain in prestigious venues such as the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie, Salle Bourgie in Montreal, Chan Center for the Performing Arts in Vancouver, and Paul Hall at the Juilliard School. She recently presented a solo concert tour across British Columbia.
In competition, she has garnered distinctions on national and international stages, winning the CIM Concerto and the American Protégé International Competitions, and capturing second prize in the Shean National and Knigge National Competitions. Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, she was a laureate at the Canadian Music Competition and National Class at the Performing Arts BC Provincial Festival (PABC). Jocelyn has since returned as a piano adjudicator for PABC and is a sought-after adjudicator for many festivals around the province.
As an educator, Jocelyn served as a lecturer teaching music theory at Hunter College (New York), guided children through private piano instruction at the Nord Anglia International School, and taught more than forty classes of secondary piano in the college division at the Juilliard School. Now based in Vancouver, BC, she is a full-time instructor of piano studies in the Language, Literature, and Performing Arts Department at Douglas College and serves on the faculty at the Vancouver Academy of Music.
100% of proceeds raised will be donated to the Community Access Music Project Society to support accessible music education in the Sea to Sky Corridor, and to the Sea to Sky Performing Arts Festival Society for participant scholarships.
