Your Instructor:

Durga Devi’s spiritual journey began in her teens, inspired by meditation and mantra. For over twenty years, she’s woven together the depth of Hatha Yoga—rooted in the teachings of Krishnamacharya—and the wisdom of Tibetan Buddhism’s Karma Kagyu tradition. Her spiritual names were given by revered teachers: Durga Devi from Bhagavan Das (Neem Karoli Baba lineage), and Karma Tsering Palmo upon taking refuge and Chenrezig empowerment in 2023. A certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher (200 RYT), known for her playful classes and fearless encouragement to break through self-imposed limitations. Her ongoing study of Ayurveda brings practical tools for healing and balance to all her classes. Her teaching is shaped by the blessings of Ram Dass, Bhagavan Das, Radhanath Swami, Mark Whitwell, Sharon Gannon, David Life, and Lama Nancy. She honors their message of love and unity in all she offers.

Durga Devi is founder of House of Yoga, 2006 and shares her home in Royal Oak with her husband, Shiva Das, and their 17 year old temple cats, Buddha and Sita Ram.
