About this Event
For 45 years, Sanctuary patron Jim McGrath has quietly written songs alongside an award-winning career in playwriting, screenwriting, television writing, and producing. Inspired by masters like Johnny Mercer, Hoagy Carmichael, Cindy Walker, Bobby Troupe, Guy Clark, and Jerry Jeff Walker, Jim writes music that turns everyday life into poetry.
Now, joined and mentored by Simon Drew on trumpet, trombone, and whistling — and backed by a stellar group of musicians — Jim shares an evening of original songs spanning jazz, country, bossa, western swing, and blues. These are songs celebrating spirit, love, whiskey, coffee, birds, and the small miracles of being alive.
