Since his major label debut Planet of Love in 1991, Jim has built a remarkable career as both a performer and an in-demand songwriter on Music Row. His songs have been recorded by some of the biggest names in music, including George Strait, Patty Loveless, George Jones, The Chicks, Old Crow Medicine Show, Lucinda Williams, Charley Crockett, Solomon Burke, and many more.
Lauderdale’s collaborative spirit has led to unforgettable partnerships across genres. Between 2004 and 2013, he co-wrote and recorded six albums with Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter.
