Led by ARIA Award winning saxophonist and composer Jeremy Rose, this quartet brings together some of Australia’s most compelling improvisers: pianist Steve Barry, bassist Noel Mason and drummer Alex Hirlian. The group has developed a distinctive collective voice grounded in lyrical composition, spacious improvisation and a deep sense of musical storytelling.Their music draws from Rose’s critically acclaimed quartet albums; Face to Face, Within and Without, Sand Lines and Chiba, as well as performing selected favourite standards.
Conceived during lockdown yet speaking powerfully to the present moment, Rose’s recent album, Face to Face reflects a belief in the importance of real-life, face-to-face connection in an increasingly isolated world.
