Marcus Mosely and the Wild Blue Herons (Bill Sample and Darlene Cooper) have worked together since 2011 as a team directing the Marcus Mosely Chorale and Ensemble, leading Gospel Style singing workshops and performing together around BC as a trio. Marcus and Bill are both inductees into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame.
Originally from Ralls, Texas, Marcus Mosely grew up immersed in the southern gospel tradition. A much sought-after performer, Mosely has brought his infectious gospel sound to concerts around the globe. He is well known in Vancouver for his stage roles in Ain’t Misbehavin’ and Show Boat, and also wrote and directed It’s Time to Sing for the Arts Club Theatre. Mosely is a founding member of the Sojourners (Roots and Gospel trio) who have toured internationally and often perform with Jim Byrnes. The Sojourners have opened for Bobby McFerrin, Five Blind Boys of Alabama and Dixie Hummingbirds.
Wild Blue Herons, the husband-and-wife musical team of Bill Sample and Darlene Cooper, have a deep history in music. Bill was the musical director and keyboard player for the legendary David Foster. He has played with Celine Dion, Ray Charles, Kenny Loggins to name just a few, plus he opened for Oscar Peterson and was one of Diana Krall’s piano teachers in University. Darlene has built a reputation as an engaging jazz/soul/gospel singer, educator, choral conductor and composer/arranger. She has worked with Eric Bibb, Dee Daniels, Shari Ulrich, Jane Mortifee and Leon Bibb.
Wild Blue Herons have expanded to include a horn section and have just released their 3rd album, It’s All About Love. Their music ranges from funky jazz to soul pop.

Jazz Vespers in the Valley starts on select Sundays each month at 3:30pm.
Typically, our services last for an hour, and in Northwood fashion, we offer a time of fellowship over coffee, tea and home baked goods prior to Vespers.
