MSU saxophonist Tommy Noble leads a "chordless" quartet - no piano or guitar - featuring the great Detroit trombonist Vincent Chandler, along with MSU's Laura Simone on bass and Sam Melkonian on drums.Tommy Noble is a saxophonist and composer hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area. He discovered his passion for the saxophone at the age of 10. For the past 5 years he has lived in Lansing, Michigan while attending Michigan State University. Tommy has performed and recorded with artists such as Jason Moran, Rodney Whitaker, Michael Dease, and Randy Napoleon, Marcus Shelby, Randy Gelispie and Walter Blanding Jr. He is currently a student of Erena Terakubo and is finishing his masters degree at Michigan State University. His Debut Recording project is set to release in October and features his own compositions heavily inspired by Ornette Coleman, Sonny Rollins, and Charles Mcpherson.
