“From Over the Pond”
This is the best time of year to hang at Brisbane’s best community nights where you never know quite what to expect! Yes, we are talking about one of Brisbane Jazz Club’s flagship events - THE JAZZ SINGERS’ JAM NIGHT, where you can look forward to seeing 12 fabulous singers accompanied by some of Queensland’s best jazz musicians, as well as our “Over the Pond” visitor from The Royal Academy of Music, London: Pete Churchill.
This month, joining Pete Churchill – UK voice/piano are Samuel Vincent - bass and Lachlan Hawkins - drums. (For singers who wish to attend the Jazz Singers in Practice workshop with our special guest Pete Churchill, prior to the jam at 4.30pm, check the website for more information).
This month’s vocalists include: Daniel Allen, Oscar Lowe, Nathaniel Cross, Gracie Strong, Rowan Farrugia, Charlotte Jaensch, Bernadette Pryde, Rachel Utley, Scott Bolland, Cathy Quinn and Pete Churchill. Host: Ingrid James.
The Jazz Singers’ Jam Night is wildly popular, and for 24 years, since 2001, has become something of a legacy in Brisbane’s cultural heritage. Produced and hosted by its founder, Ingrid James, the JSJNs boast 4 generations of jazz vocalists from emerging to professionals, to surprise sit-ins from interstate and overseas guest artists.
“The JSJNs always have this vibe about them from the first note to the last. 12 singers of all levels of experience get up on stage with a professional house band, sing their hearts out and are received with great warmth, humor and encouragement from a thrilled crowd."
