ABOUT THE ARTISTS: Mike Frengel Trio
Mike Frengel is an influential figure in contemporary guitar music, known for his genre-blending style that merges rock, jazz, classical, and more. With over three decades of experience, his compositions are characterized by intricate rhythms, lush harmonies, and innovative techniques, often incorporating electronics. Frengel's work, including his latest album Music for Guitar and Electronics, has been praised for its emotional depth and technical skill. He also authored The Unorthodox Guitar, a guide on alternative guitar techniques, which has been widely acclaimed. Beyond performance and composition, Frengel is dedicated to mentoring young musicians as a faculty member at Northeastern University and through workshops. His latest project, the Mike Frengel Trio, blends jazz with experimental sound, and their first EP is now available on YouTube. Frengel's pioneering approach reimagines the guitar's potential, earning him recognition in both music and academic circles.
