About this Event

Jazz Mafia

Jazz Mafia features a fierce vocal ensemble boasting top West Coast talent: Yvette Pylant, Trance Thompson, Erin Honeywell, Nataly Michelle Wright, Solas B Lalgee, Tym Brown, Viveca Hawkins, and more.

Balanced by the instrumental force of our Grateful Brass/New Directions In Brass horns and the rhythm section of our Future Standard cohort, they form a musical Voltron of sorts. As a 10-piece group, Jazz Mafia delivers earth-quaking tracks with their trademark Bay Area greasy yet complex Funk-Jazz hybrid.

The go-to ensemble for ambitious collaborations, both live and in recordings, partnering with artists like Martin Luther, Tiffany Austin, Lyrics Born, Gift of Gab, and many more. As the house band for Oakland Symphony and the immersive cirque-arts show The Soiled Dove, for which they provided the original score, their versatility shines. Additionally, they curate original programming for esteemed venues like Stanford University, SFJAZZ, and Oakland Art & Soul.

Jefferson Bergey

Jefferson Bergey is a professional musician in Oakland, California.

He makes a living performing songs from the last 75 years of popular music with multiple sought-after private event and party bands. (Lucky Devils Band, Ivy Hill Entertainment)

With Lucky Devils Band, Bergey has performed hundreds of events all over Northern California, Tahoe, Hawaii, and even as far as Barcelona, and Cabo. They were the cover story of the San Francisco Chronicle's Sunday arts and entertainment supplement, Datebook.

With a flair for musical theater, He writes songs that are built using the blueprints of jazz, blues, pop, folk, bluegrass, and rock, but break form with lyrical content that is smutty, twisted, foul, juvenile, and just plain SILLY. He employs polite vulgarity, or smut with a smile.
