The Jazz Police celebrate its first 40 years of great big band music. They swing, they rock, they inspire!
About this Event

The Jazz Police celebrates its 40 years of existence as a premier, modern big band based in the greater Seattle area. They have received numerous awards including Best Acoustic Jazz Group and Best Jazz Concert from Earshot Jazz Magazine and Best Jazz Recording from the Northwest Area Music Association. The four Jazz Police compact discs have been hailed by local and national reviews seen in JazzTimes magazine and Jazziz magazine as well as local publications and online reviewers. The consensus opinion lauds the originality of their music, the tight and powerful ensemble playing and the high quality of the many soloists in the group. The band’s repertoire consists almost exclusively of original compositions written for the group. Music styles cover a very broad range, including Latin and Afro-Cuban jazz, straight-ahead and mainstream jazz, blues, fusion, rock, funk and classical. The Jazz Police consist of saxophonists Jim Dejoie, Alex Worland, Paul Gillespie, Dave Stangland and Colleen Plunkett, trumpeters Mike Mines, Jack Halsey, Barb Hudak and Alex Dugdale, trombonists Dan Haeck, Steve Kirk, Greg Schroeder and Dave Bentley, vibraphonist Evan Buehler, guitarist Greg Fulton, bassist Dave Pascal, drummer Scott Ketron and director Jeff Sizer. Don’t miss a fabulous evening of big band jazz in the beautiful confines of Marine View.
