When Rock and Roll became the dominant musical force in 1955, Jazz didn't just disappear from popular music ! Early rock was actually influenced by jazz - and the jazz presence in popular music has continued. Jazz inflected pop music is heard in the songs of Stevie Wonder, Chicago, Steely Dan, Sting and so many more. Jazz tonalities - heard in Movie Themes like the Pink Panther, jazzy top 40 songs like Take 5 and the Girl from Ipanema and popular children's music like the Peanut's Christmas songs and the Sesame Street Theme have continued to permeate popular culture during the pop rock era.
This Concert is a fun and nostalgic look at our shared experience of how jazz sounds have continued to share the stage with the pop sounds that have ruled the radio since 1955.
It should be fun - and have
you leaving with a smile !
