About Axel:
Axel Kaner-Lidström is a London-based instrumentalist and composer emerging from the city’s new jazz vanguard. A member of the Tomorrow’s Warriors generation that catalysed artists such as Ezra Collective and Nubya Garcia, Axel’s work sits at the intersection of collective composition and expansive improvisation.
As a driving force behind Levitation Orchestra, he has helped shape a sound rooted in communal authorship and large-ensemble experimentation, positioning himself within London’s ongoing jazz renaissance.
His solo work marks a decisive evolution: a body of music written entirely in his own voice, foregrounding intricate composition while harnessing the city’s most adventurous improvisers. The result is music that is both intimate and expansive: grounded in tradition yet forward-facing in spirit.
