Jason Harrod is an award-winning singer-songwriter from Durham, North Carolina, crafting intimate, narrative songs rooted in folk, blues, and Americana. Jason embodies a blend of blues and folk wrought with an extremely strong country spine—music that feels timeless, grounded, and deeply human. With warm, unvarnished vocals and nuanced fingerstyle guitar, he delivers songs of striking honesty and grace, finding beauty in ordinary places and meaning in life’s in-between moments.
Harrod’s sound carries a confident, mid-century presence—steady, soulful, and sure of itself—while his songwriting remains tender and clear-eyed. His voice has strength without losing its warmth, and his performances feel less like presentation and more like connection: stories offered with humility, craft, and quiet conviction. Listeners leave his songs feeling more human—seen, steadied, and reminded to hope.
A MerleFest Chris Austin Songwriting finalist, Harrod went on to win first place in the North Carolina Songwriters Co-Op contest, was selected as a spotlight performer at the Healdsburg Guitar Festival (sponsored by Acoustic Guitar Magazine), and received a Fulbright grant to teach songwriting in Thessaloniki, Greece.
After several years in Boston, Massachusetts and Brooklyn, New York, Jason returned to his native North Carolina to continue his musical journey, establishing it as his home base for frequent touring throughout the United States and Europe. He is currently working on his fourth full-length album.
Harrod writes from the in-between: the stretch of road between heartbreak and healing, doubt and belief, loneliness and belonging. His songs don’t rush toward resolution—they linger in the tension, listening for what’s true. And somewhere inside that honesty, hope takes root—quietly, stubbornly, and for real. The result is music that lingers—rooted in tradition, shaped by experience, and delivered with sincerity and quiet power.
