New year, same cleanups!Did you know we host a community litter cleanup on the second Saturday of each month with Keep New Hanover Beautiful? Each cleanup focuses on a specific watershed within the Wilmington area. Last year, these cleanups removed more than 7,000 lbs. of trash and recyclables from our local creeks, before that could make its way into the Cape Fear River!
We’ll begin our efforts this year in the Burnt Mill Creek watershed, hitting two spots along the easement behind the Crossroads Center from 9-11 a.m. this Saturday, Jan. 10th. We will meet in the lot at 894-1 S Kerr Ave. in Wilmington. Follow our cleanup signs!
We will bring the gloves, pickers, safety vests, bags, data sheets, and pens. You bring your passion for clean water! If you have a pair of waterproof knee-high boots or waders, we will need a few folks to walk through the ditch, which typically has standing water.
Registration for our first cleanup of the year is now OPEN at the link below. We hope to see out there!
