Vincent Chu, violin was born in 1997 in Taiwan, and started playing the piano at the age of six and the violin at the age of seven. In 2016 he was awarded a major scholarship to study at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and graduated in 2020, where he studied with Sebastian Müeller and Susanne Stanzeleit. He then continued his studies with Simon Smith and Callum Smart at the Royal Northern College of Music where he specialised in violin performance and musicology.
Vincent is an engaging performer in the U.K., and he has successfully delivered recitals and concerts for both solo and chamber music in the recent years (2021-2023) both in the U.K. and further afield in Taiwan, Japan and Singapore. He has made excellent recordings of repertoire by J.S. Bach, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Frank and Kurtag, amongst others.
Vincent also participated at professional standard in world-class orchestras including the Halle, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Birmingham Royal Ballet Sinfonia, Orchestra of the Swan and the Welsh National Opera. In 2017, he played in the Aronowitz Orchestra for the International Viola Competition and Festival. In 2019, he worked with the eminent British composer John Rutter performing his “Requiem”, which was broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Furthermore in 2020, he worked with Spanish conductor Jaume Santonja and British oboist Jonathan Kelly performing Richard Strauss’s Oboe Concert and Don Juan.
As a keen chamber music performer, Vincent also played a variety of chamber music works, for instance Schumann Piano Quintet Op. 44, Piano Quartet Op. 47 and Piano Trio Op. 81; Mendelssohn Piano Trio No.1 and No. 2; Beethoven Strings Quartet No. 10, No. 12, No. 13, No. 14; Brahms Piano Trio No.1 and Piano Quintet Op. 34; Dvorak Strings Trio Op. 47 and Piano Quintet Op. 81.
Vincent plays an Italian violin made in 1901 by Luigi Montanari, which is loaned by the Chimei Museum in Taiwan.
Yingyin Yu, piano has been learning the piano for 13 years, starting when she was 10 years old. She studied at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music Affiliated Secondary School of Music in China when she turned 16. During this time, she pursued composition and selected vocal as her second major. Yingyin actively participated in numerous competitions, including the Shanghai "Hai Lun" International Piano Competition, where she won third prize in the four hands category, and the Hong Kong Public International Piano Competition, where she secured first prize in her group. She also competed in various contests in America.
In 2015, she attended the 14th International Music Festival and Masterclasses at The Frideric Chopin University of Music, studying under Professor Barbara Szczepanska. Yingyin successfully earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and later graduated with a Master's in Piano Performance from the Royal College of Music in London.
Her passion for chamber music led Yingyin to establish her own chamber group while in school. Over the past few years, she has showcased her talents in various performances across the United Kingdom, including cities such as Manchester, London, Birmingham, Sheffield, and Oxford. Noteworthy engagements include serving as a competition accompanist at prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, the Austrian Culture Forum, music festivals, the RCM Piano Festival, and the Super String Festival.
