Members of the Iowa Chapter of American Pilgrims are planning a trip to the San Antonio Mission Trail for January 15-18, 2026. San Antonio has always been renowned as the home of “the greatest concentration of Catholic missions in North America,” including Mission San Antonio de Valero (the Alamo), Mission Concepción, Mission San José, Mission San Juan Capistrano, and Mission San Francisco de la Espada.
And what better way to experience this American Camino than with other pilgrims from Iowa? We'll arrive on January 15, and walk on the January 16 and 17, visiting the 5 local missions. Total distance is about 14 miles (~7 miles each day). We'll end our Camino at the Cathedral in downtown San Antonio, near the Alamo.
