We're back in the new year on January 13th with more gender-neutral, COVID-cautious, queer-centered English Country Dance! This month our caller is Cassiane Vlahos Mobley with Craig Johnson (piano & accordion), Thomas Dewey (cello), and Anne Goess (fiddle)!
Doors open at 6:30, and dancing starts at 7.
There will be a 10-minute beginner lesson before the dance upon request.
All dances will be taught and danced without reference to gender.
Masks that are well-fitted, unvented KN95, KF94, K95 or better must be worn indoors at all times.
We ask our caller & musicians to wear masks while out on the floor and during breaks, but they may not be masked while actively calling and playing. Our aim is to reduce COVID risk while allowing adjustments for logistics. For example, talent may choose to remove masks to increase caller audibility, facilitate communication between band members, or allow musicians to play wind instruments.
If you have been exposed to COVID in the last two weeks, we ask that you stay home.
If you feel that you may be at all sick - even if it's not COVID - we ask that you stay home.
We will have an air purifier running, and the hall has excellent ventillation from large casement windows on three walls.
Snacks are potluck at the break - food MUST be eaten outside (we all sit out on the porch and socialize). Feel free to contribute your own - for allergen identification purposes, please label the ingredients of any food brought to share.
Improper English is a queer-centric, COVID-conscious dance community.
To help our community continue to grow, please share this event with friends and groups that you think would enjoy what we do.
