Free to the public. Janiece Johnson is a transplanted Bay Area, California native who loves history, design, art, good food, and traveling. Dr. Johnson has master’s degrees in American Religious History and Theology and a PhD in American History, taught and researched as a professor at BYU-Idaho and BYU, and is now an acquisitions director at Deseret Book. She is the co-author of Witness of Women (Deseret Book, 2016), general editor of The Mountain Meadows Massacre: Complete Legal Papers (University of Oklahoma, 2017), the award-winning Convicting the Mormons: The Mountain Meadows Massacre in American Culture (University of North Carolina Press, 2023), and her most recent book on Revelation in the Doctrine and Covenants. Dr. Johnson’s current research centers on the Book of Mormon and the relationship of early Latter-day Saint converts to their new American scripture.
