San Francisco's Orangeland Gallery has embarked on a series of ambitious exhibitions featuring exceptional Bay Area and international established and emerging artists working in all media with a focus on painting and mixed media art under the umbrella name : PROJECT ORANGE in a unique collaboration between artist / gallerist Candace Loheed and artist / curator Carl Heyward.
A DUAL NATURE allows full entry into the mind and working process of Jamie Madison an accomplished painter who studied painting and printmaking with Wayne Thiebaud and Roland Peterson at UC Davis. By twists and turns she has developed an inverted abstraction bridging aspects of the topographical via an interior landscape of sometimes inferred figuration achieved via confident expressionist gestures.
Madison's lush abstract work produced for this exhibition expresses new directions in her handling of mixed media materials on canvas and paper exploring the weight presence and drama of negative space while furthering exploration into her established sensibilities claiming space for observations seen through heart hands eyes and mind.
