Southern DanceWorks invites you to experience James Baldwin: A Letter to My Nephew, an original production that brings Baldwin’s voice into the present through dance, music, spoken reflection, and embodied storytelling.This work is not simply a tribute. It is a conversation with Baldwin’s legacy and a call to listen more deeply, feel more honestly, and respond more courageously to the truth of who we are and who we are becoming.
Rooted in themes of identity, love, responsibility, family, truth, and liberation, James Baldwin: A Letter to My Nephew explores what it means to carry Baldwin’s words beyond the page and into the body, the community, and the moment we are living in now.
Through movement and multidisciplinary collaboration, Southern DanceWorks continues its mission to create art that cultivates healing, restoration, reflection, and human connection.
