About this Event
We want to celebrate New York Climate Week together with you and close off our week with a nature-forward event.
This is a unique opportunity to explore Jamaica Bay from the deck of a hybrid boat, R/V CUNY I, owned and operated by Kingsborough Community College. Our tour will start at Kingsborough College and is guided by experts from Jamaica Bay Rockaway Parks Conservancy.
The boat is a hybrid catamaran, with very limited ship movement. CUNY/I is used both for research and educational purposes: https://srijb.org/r-v-cuny-i/
This is also our very first POCACITO event at New York Climate Week and both a mini reunion and an opportunity to meet new people.
Public transit access:Brighton Beach, B and Q trains
From there, take bus route B1 leaving from Brighton Beach Ave/Coney Island Ave at 12:03 / 12:14 / 12:25 / 12:38

We will pick you up from the bus stop and shuttle you to the ship.

This event is part of our German-American Nature-Based Solutions Exchange, GANBASE.

The German-American Nature-Based Solutions Exchange (GANBASE) offers stakeholders in the field of nature conservation and environmental protection the opportunity to exchange ideas on nature-based solutions (NbS) across the Atlantic.
GANBASE aims to exchange approaches and experiences; to present excellent research and lighthouse projects from Germany; to demonstrate the integration of NbS into local, regional and national policy in Germany, as well as ideas on how these can be anchored in the USA; and to draw attention to the economic and socio-political aspects of NbS.
The project is supported by the Transatlantic Program of the Federal Republic of Germany, funded by the European Recovery Program (ERP) of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE).
