Experience the power that is  /  Jaedyn James

Joined by some of the Midwest’s most beloved musicians and hosted by South Minneapolis’s prestigious Hook & Ladder Theater. Saturday, October 9th of the year 2021 marks the awaited return of soul singer, songwriter, and working class diva Jaedyn James. It’s a night your heart will never forget.

After fronting and managing the 10 piece group, Jaedyn James & The Hunger for five years, James in classic diva style has transitioned into a solo artist. For two years she has stayed out of the limelight obsessing over the next stories she’d bring to life. This will be the first time she will unveil an entire new set of her own original music while also offering a surprising collection of covers.

James is a Minneapolis native. “ I curated this event to celebrate and honor my community. I love Minneapolis. We’ve gone through so much, if I can be one thread of the tapestry that holds space for grief and truth while we party and celebrate the strength it took to get here, I will have made the perfect night. ” From the music, to the seating chart, to each one of her outfits-  James has taken it upon herself to finesse  every detail. “This isn’t a show where you come just for your favorite act, this is an experience where you stay all night and make memories you will cherish forever. How else can I spell it out for you? A Mistress always knows your innermost needs and desires.”

Drench yourself in / Freaque

Freaque is for the derelicts, the heretics, the tree stumps, and those who live on the fringes of society. A tattered voice, made of strung out words, hung to dry over broken chords on his mother’s piano. His songs range from the kind of folk and blues you find in graveyards and gardens, to fuller grooves you can find in swamps, sewers, and junkyards. In a wooden womb of darkness, he took what he had and rose above a society that constantly tells us we are not enough, that we’re only worth the possessions we own, the money in our bank accounts, and our body's abilities. We do not have to conform to societal standards to be valued as human beings. That is why he creates music and art.
