April 12, 2026 will be a day for the Celebration of the Lifeof Jacquelyn Lee Borgeson-Zimmer
The board and staff of the Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum have graciously offered this site for a mostly informal gathering to celebrate the life and impact of this special and well-loved woman.
Beginning at 2:00 PM and lasting till a little after 4:00.
The primary Celebration will be in the Johnson Gallery,
on the second floor (Yes there is an elevator).
Please sign your name upon entering the lobby downstairs.
Finger foods will be available in the classroom on the second floor
(and there is still time to volunteer if you would like to contribute
by bringing non-messy snacks of either a sweet or savory nature)
Music meaningful to Jackie and those who loved her
will be provided by Doug Toon of Chanute.
The Reverend Tobias Schlingensiepen Of First Congregational Church, Topeka, Kansas will officiate and share words at 2:00 P.M.
His words will be followed by my own (very brief)
and any others wishing to speak. I invite and strongly
encourage anyone so inclined to share their stories
about Jackie
At 4:00 P.M. the museum staff/board of directors will dedicate
the Borgeson-Zimmer Gallery, also on the second floor. That will wrap up the Celebration.
Throughout the afternoon, the entire museum will be open for those who would like to browse and see much of the 30 years plus of Jackie’s Passion.
Please bring yourselves, your stories, your pictures to share.
There will be several individuals attending with some ambulatory difficulties. So if you are able to walk from the north parking lot of the depot, or park along the streets to the south or east, this will free up more space near the entrance for those who need it.
This Celebration is still developing, and likely will be until Sunday, April 12. If you have thoughts and ideas, I would love to hear them. Make sure and reach out with any questions.
Also, please feel free to share pictures, videos, stories, etc. in the discussion on this page.
This event page is not locked down and is available for anyone to see even if they are not on facebook. So, please feel free to share the link to anyone you feel might want to know about this.
