About this Event
Jacobsen Hive Program Presents: Late Season Beekeeping
Come join us for an exciting hands-on experience at Zidell Yards!
Our late season beekeeping field event is perfect for beginners preparing their hives for the fall and winter months. Learn about the physiological changes happening within the colony by opening up a hive! This third event in the series will provide practical tips and insight for bolstering hive health, evaluating honey stores and transitioning colonies into the cooler season. This educational event features a special guest speaker, Mia O'Conner-Smith, Beekeeper and land steward with The Black Oregon Land Trust. An optional light sandwich lunch from Olympia Provisions will be served.
This event will be held entirely outdoors in our SW Riverfront Apiary at Zidell Yards. Comfortable clothing that is suitable for outdoor work - like long sleeves and pants - is recommended. Please note that a limited supply of protective beekeeping gear (such as gloves and veils) will be made available, but participants are encouraged to bring their own if they have it.
Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to learn something new, and connect with nature and the local beekeeping community! Please do not hesitate to reach out with any specific questions.
Hope to see you there!
