Known across Kansas City for her gritty, commanding vocals and magnetic energy, J Love (Jaime Chase) has been captivating audiences for years with a sound forged in the greats — Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Etta James — and delivered with a style that's unmistakably her own. Originally from Kennett, Missouri, she grew up surrounded by music. Her grandfather was a gospel singer, her cousin an R&B artist, and the church was her first stage. That foundation comes through in every note.
Her debut album, "Life's Side Effects," showcases the depth and range that have made her one of the city's most sought-after live performers. But it's the J Love Band — featuring some of KC's finest musicians — that turns a Friday night into something you'll be talking about all week.
