Tadao (TSUKAJI Muga), a middle-aged man with severe autism, lives quietly with his mother, Tamako (KAGA Mariko). Outside of their modest home, beautiful Ume tree branches grow further and further outside their garden walls. Tamako arranges for Tadao to move into a group home. But the transition proves overwhelming for Tadao. Both mother and son face new challenges as they navigate into a new stage of life.
