About this Event
Families from across Speke & Garston are being invited to take part in a free community walk to mark International Women’s Day 2026 (#IWD2026). The ‘WAG’walk (Women and Girls) walk will celebrate women's and girl's achievements whilst raising awareness about gender equality.
The ‘WAG’walk event is being organised by CE3 Community Enterprises and SLDAS – a local domestic abuse charity - and will take in the scenic 1.5-mile Speke & Garston circular coastal path on Saturday 7th March from 11.00am.
Marketing officer at SLDAS Sara Mak added: “Last year we had a great turnout at Calderstone’s Park and raised over £150 from donations on the day from walkers and the general public. We also raised awareness of our support services for women and girls as well as the partnerships we have with other community enterprises like CE3.”
In 2026 SLDAS has chosen to promote its #mychoicemylife campaign.
Sara explains: “#mychoicemylife aims to encourage women and girls to understand that they do have choices when it comes to how they are treated, how they choose to live and where to go for help.”
Sara adds: “It’s really important to us that we come together from all corners of our community to show our support for women and girls in South Liverpool who might be facing barriers to living their lives free from abuse.”
Starting at CE3’s centre in Parklands, walkers will head out to the coastal path accompanied by volunteers from SLDAS. The walk will end back at CE3 with refreshments and entertainment from Speke Community Choir to wrap up the event.
Meet at CE3, Parklands, L24 0TY. Free parking available. All welcome, including furry four legged friends!
