About this Event
Weaving Stories of Strength Workshop 5: Fabric Deconstruction & Inscription
Guided by Interweave Arts artists.
Cut, dye, print, paint, embroider, felt, inscribe: turn fabric into story.
This hands-on workshop brings together previous participants to complete their textile panels and welcomes new participants to begin creating their own. Guided by Interweave Arts artists, we will deconstruct garments, inscribe words and symbols, and start stitching these stories into the main structure of the wearable sculpture.
What to Expect
- Returning participants finalise their panels; new participants begin their creative journey.
- Cut garments into panels, dye them in shades of grey, and inscribe words or symbols that reflect personal journeys.
- Begin stitching panels into the main structure, embedding meaning into every layer.
- Optional sound recording of words or sounds for the final soundscape.

IWD 2026: Weaving Stories of Strength
Threads of resilience, sharing voices of transformation.
QVMAG and the City of Launceston, in collaboration with Interweave Arts, invite you to Weaving Stories of Strength - an arts workshop series in celebration of International Women’s Day 2026.
The free arts workshop series brings the 2026 IWD themes to life through seven creative workshops, culminating in a symbolic wearable sculpture to be revealed at a special morning tea event.
Through art therapy, textile design, movement, and sound, the project invites women and gender-diverse individuals to reclaim narratives, explore embodiment, and create a powerful symbol of collective strength.
