About this Event
Weaving Stories of Strength Workshop 6: Textile Assembly, Sculptural Design
Guided by Interweave Arts artists.
From fragments to form.
This workshop is where the sculpture begins to take shape as a unified piece. Guided by Interweave Arts artists, participants will complete the assembly of textile panels and explore how the sculpture interacts with the body. Sound elements will also be introduced, adding depth and resonance to the collective artwork.
What to Expect
- Finalise stitching and integration of panels into the sculpture.
- Refine the form – cage, skirt, or bell shape – ensuring balance and movement.
- Explore movement practices that embody freedom and transformation.
- Begin layering sound elements – spoken words, recorded phrases, or ambient tones.

- This workshop will be held in the Interweave Arts Studio at Inveresk, 2 Invermay Road, Launceston (just outside the Museum at Inveresk entrance).

Threads of resilience, sharing voices of transformation.
QVMAG and the City of Launceston, in collaboration with Interweave Arts, invite you to Weaving Stories of Strength - an arts workshop series in celebration of International Women’s Day 2026.
The free arts workshop series brings the 2026 IWD themes to life through seven creative workshops, culminating in a symbolic wearable sculpture to be revealed at a special morning tea event.
Through art therapy, textile design, movement, and sound, the project invites women and gender-diverse individuals to reclaim narratives, explore embodiment, and create a powerful symbol of collective strength.
