On Christmas Eve, overwhelmed by personal and financial troubles, he contemplates suicide. However, his guardian angel, Clarence, intervenes and shows him what life would have been like if he had never been born, revealing the profound impact he has had on the lives of those around him. Ultimately, George realizes the value of his life and the love of his family and friends.
