About this Event
"I Am NOT a Prostitute...It's Just A Walk!" -Althea Jones
According to recent surveying 96.7% of people have been the recipient of unwanted catcalling, sexual advances, or/and solicitation. These interaction make community members and neighbors feel unsafe and afraid.
Join us on October 5 for a 1.4 mile walk of protection, togetherness and accountability. This powerful, community-centered event will uplift the voices of those who have experienced street harassment, cat-calling, and unsolicited sexualization.
This event creates space to share stories, reclaim public spaces, and amplify the call for protection. Through movement, arts activies and writing workships, we will honor both the trauma and triumph of those impacted by solicitation and objectification in everyday life.
Why You Should Participate:
- Walk in solidarity with others who believe in safer streets and empowered voices.
- Engage in interactive sessions of art-making, writing and expression
- Stand up to protect your 8 year old self. Be a part of the healing, by listening, speaking and showing up for YOU!
