This exciting hand on program presented by Dr. Rebecca Ellis and A/Prof Tino Mercado will discuss the principles and clinical applications of soft tissue grafting to manage dehiscence defects around teeth and implants.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
• Diagnosis and classification of soft tissue recession around teeth and implants.
• Biological principles of soft tissue grafting.
• Development and biological applications of enamel matrix derivative.
• Harvesting techniques for connective tissue and free gingival grafts.
• Periosteal release, coronally advanced flaps and suturing techniques.
• Socket graft and soft tissue management.
HANDS ON
• Harvesting CT and free gingival grafts
• Connective tissue graft and coronal flap advancement for root coverage incorporating enamel matrix derivative
• Free gingival graft to increase width of keratinised tissue

Dr Rebecca Ellis graduated top of her class with BDS (Distinction) from the University of Otago, New Zealand 2011. In 2015 Rebecca moved to Melbourne, Australia to complete a three-year doctoral degree in Periodontology at the University of Melbourne. During her training she was awarded an ITI research grant for preclinical research in implant dentistry. Her research interests include preclinical and clinical research in immediate implant placement and also guided bone regeneration. Rebecca is a fellow of the ITI, and current Australasian Section Chair. Rebecca enjoys teaching and presenting both locally and internationally. Rebecca holds the position of Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Charles Sturt University, NSW. Rebecca has worked as a specialist Periodontist in both NZ and Australia and has recently become the co-director of Sydney Periodontics & Implant Centre.
