About this Event
A special evening curated by Rizzoli and dedicated to contemporary Italian literature, bringing together authors for readings, music, and audience engagement. The program combines literary readings, a live musical performance, and a collective signing aperitivo in one immersive experience.
The event marks the final day of SuperBook – the “Prize of Prizes,” a new initiative by the Italian Cultural Institute aimed at promoting Italian literature in the United States.
Program
- 4:30 PM – Doors open
- 5:00 PM – Introduction and author readings. Participating authors will read a short text from their own books: Nicolò Cavallaro, Nicola H. Cosentino, Teresa Ciabatti, Anna Mallamo, Wanda Marasco, Leonardo San Pietro, and Diego De Silva.
- 5:30 PM – Concert inspired by Italian literature
An extemporaneous soundscape inspired by Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities, with Giacomo Merega, Terry McManus, Jonathan Moritz, and Rosalie Kaplan, in collaboration with the Rizzoli Music Aperitivo Series, curated by Mondo Jazz. - 6:00–7:00 PM – Aperitivo & collective signing

Teresa Ciabatti, was born and raised in Orbetello and lives in Rome. Her novels are: Adelmo, torna da me (Einaudi Stile Libero), I giorni felici (Mondadori), Il mio paradiso è deserto (Rizzoli), Tuttissanti (Mondadori), Matrigna (Solferino). With La più amata (Mondadori), she was a finalist for the Strega Prize in 2017. Sembrava bellezza was published in 2021. She contributes to “Corriere della Sera”, “7 – Corriere della sera”, and “la Lettura”.

Nicola Cosentino. Born in Praia a Mare in 1991, he lives in Milan. With Vita e morte delle aragoste (Voland, 2017) he won the Brancati Young Prize in 2018 and it has been translated into French and German. With Le tracce fantasma (minimum fax, 2022) he came second in the Flaiano Prize. He is editor of Lucy – Sulla cultura and collaborates with the cultural pages of Corriere della Sera. This is his fourth novel.

Diego De Silva was born in Naples in 1964. Among his latest novels, Mancarsi (Einaudi 2013), Terapia di coppia per amanti (Einaudi 2015), and the best-selling series of the “lawyer of unsuccess” Vincenzo Malinconico: Non avevo capito niente (2007 Einaudi, Premio Strega finalist), Mia suocera beve (Einaudi, 2010); Sono contrario alle emozioni (Einaudi, 2011) and Divorziare con stile (Einaudi, 2017), I valori che contano (avrei preferito non scoprirli) (2020), Sono felice, dove ho sbagliato? (2022). His novels have been adapted into movies and TV series and translated in several languages.

Anna Mallamo is originally from Reggio Calabria but moved across the strait to Messina and is constantly going back and forth between the two. She is a journalist, she is in charge of the culture and entertainment section of the newspaper Gazzetta del Sud, and she runs a blog on The Huffington Post. She used to have a daily summer journal for L’Unità, which later became a weekly column in which she chronicled the semi-serious but deeply political deeds of an apartment building of elderly women from Calabria. She is the author of Lezioni di tango (Città del Sole 2010), a book on the world of tango and its protagonists, and her short stories have been published in several anthologies and magazines. She leads a double life on social media, on Facebook, Instagram, but especially X (formerly known as Twitter), where her account @manginobrioches has a large number of followers.

Wanda Marasco was born in Naples, where she lives. She received the Bagutta First Work Award for the novel L’arciere d’infanzia (Manni 2003) and the Montale Prize for poetry with the collection Voc e Poè (Campanotto 1997). Her works have been translated into English, Spanish, German, and Greek. Il genio dell’abbandono (Neri Pozza 2015) was selected for the 2015 Strega Prize and staged by the Teatro Stabile di Napoli under the direction of Claudio Di Palma. In 2017, also for Neri Pozza, the novel La compagnia delle anime finte was published, reaching the finalist stage of the Strega Prize.

Leonardo San Pietro was born in Turin in 1997, where he attended the Scuola Holden. He worked for a year as a reader for Einaudi. In 2023, he graduated in Cultures and Literatures of the Modern World at the University of Turin and now attends the master's program in Linguistic Sciences in Bologna, the city where he lives. He published his first stories in Domani and in Tina, Matteo B. Bianchi's magazine dedicated to debuts.
