About this Event

Welcome to It Takes a Village: Advancing Equity in Maternal Healthcare!

Join us for an exciting free community-centered training series designed for healthcare providers to strengthen postpartum care by uplifting fathers, supporting mothers, and advancing equity to increase skills and awareness during the postpartum window.


Who Should Attend:

  • Healthcare providers
  • Doulas
  • Community Health Workers
  • Social Workers
  • Fathers
  • Anyone supporting pregnant/postpartum families
  • It Takes a Village Program Facilitators

Location: Women's Center for Wellness - 2600 Tamarack Ave Suite 100, South Windsor, CT 06074




This training is designed as a two-part experience

To support shared learning and continuity, participants are expected to attend both sessions within their selected training track. When registering, please be sure to register for both dates listed for that training.


Training Schedule:

  • Four Three Hour Sessions
  • In-Person
  • You may choose to attend one component or both. Each component is a two-part experience, so participants are expected to attend both dates for any component they select.


This training series is broken down into two components:

Partnering with Dads: Why and How (January 30th, 2026 and February 6th, 2026 from 9am-12pm)

  • Session 1: Explore the Context of Partnering with Dad(January 30th)
  • Session 2: Explore the Practice of Partnering with Dad (February 6th)


My Racial Journey, Advancing Health Equity for Black Women (March 26th, 2026 and April 2nd, 2026 from 9am-12pm)

  • Session 1: My Racial Journey/Bobbie Harroto's Cycle of Socialization (March 26th)
  • Session 2: Health Equity for Black Women: Addressing Maternal and Infant Health Disparities (April 2nd)
