The course offers a gradual entry into the world and practice of sound work.
What You Will Explore in this ISSP Module 1
1. Nada Brahman & Nada Yoga: Exploring the Vedic concept of Nada Brahma "The World is Sound". Understanding sound as a primordial creative force. Comparative perspectives from various mystical and philosophical traditions. Inner and outer listening practices: Experiencing the meditative and transformative potential of sound.
2. Integral Psychology: We will explore different aspects of integral psychology and different levels of consciousness as proposed by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.
3. The Nervous System & The Anatomy of Hearing: We will learn about the role of the human nervous system in the healing process, about how the nervous system functions and interacts with other parts of the being. We will explore practical ways to regulate, influence and balance the nervous system.
4. Organology - Musical Instruments of the World and their Therapeutic Significance: Study of musical instruments from diverse cultural lineages. Classification systems and acoustic properties: Introduction to sound-producing tools used in therapeutic contexts, ancient to present. Guided exploration of instruments’ vibrational qualities and their effects on human systems.
5. Musical Improvisation & Vocal Exploration: Techniques to free your musical intuition : Group and solo improvisation with voice and instruments : Developing listening skills, emotional expression, and presence in improvisation: Creating a safe space for playful and soulful sound exploration.
6. The Building Blocks of Sound and Music: Key principles: resonance, entrainment, frequency, intention, rhythm, silence: sound healing principles Creating intentional sound spaces for healing, learning, and transformation.
