Born out of the creative atmosphere of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, Isotope is a quartet that breathes new life into the music of Joe Henderson. Under the direction of tenor saxophonist Valentin Urbain, the group delves into Henderson’s rich and complex repertoire with both reverence and freedom. Alongside him, François Meulemans on double bass, Pavel Cherniavskyi on piano, and Zoïa Tesher on drums form a cohesive and responsive rhythm section that balances subtle interplay with raw energy. Together, they revisit post-bop language with a contemporary sensibility, creating music that feels alive, conversational, and deeply rooted in the spirit of jazz.
